This week, we will explain disposable gowns, which is one of the PPE used in surgeries, especially by healthcare professionals, and 4 different levels of the gown. The main purpose of the gown is to protect the user against blood or infectious liquid splashes, to prevent it from touching the skin of the person. In addition, it used to prevent the transmission of microorganisms that can harm patients with weak immunity from the people wearing the gown.

Levels of Gown

There are 4 different levels of gowns. Gowns designed for single use generally have features that they should have. These are, produce of non-woven and fabric, breathable structure, prevent bacteria and virus penetration. In general, how do we determine the level of gowns that have

these features? This level in the gowns is actually the risk level.

Level 1

This levels means minimal risk. These are often used in primary care areas in hospitals. Are the products to be used in the standard medical unit. Gowns used by visitors are included in this category.

Level 2

This levels means low risk. This product is usually used in when drawing blood or suturing. It can be used in pathology laboratories and intensive care units. It can block more fluid than level one.

Level 3

This levels means medium risk. These gowns are usually used during blood collection from arteries or for intravenous treatments. Can be used in emergency rooms and for trauma cases. More resistant to splashes and liquid penetration than the second level.

Level 4

This levels means high risk. These gowns are used where the risk of long contagion is higher, splashes of blood and fluids. These types of gowns are mostly preferred in surgeries and are used when pathogen resistance is needed. Acts as a major barrier to liquids. Prevents all fluid ingress for up to 1 hour. Again can prevent virus penetration up to 1 hour.
